Our Story
StoryArcs is an AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) programme run by The Story Society at Bath Spa University. Our mission is a deep exploration into the nature of Story Skills, their innovative uses and diverse benefits.
We are currently running the StoryArcs Pilot Programme. We’re working with organisations from across the UK who have problems, ambitions and missions that they think Story Skills can help address. We have paired each organisation with a Story Associate who can bring unique and creative Story Skills to address that organisation’s particular challenge. Our Story Associates are Early Careers Researchers from across a range of disciplines, including PhD graduates and individuals with equivalent skills and experience.
Through the Pilot Programme and an expanded Full Programme (to be launched later in 2024) we are developing a Story Skill Set that can be used to solve real-world problems of our times.
Our Journey
The journey has begun with our Pilot Programme, launching in 2023.
We have partnered with different UK universities, where nominated academic mentors take a Story Associate under their wing. Each Story Associate is being trained by us at StoryArcs and supported by their individual mentor throughout their Host placement.
The Hosts represent a wide range of UK businesses, charities, creative and non-profit organisations, historical sites and local councils. Some are commercial ventures that might be working at the cutting edge of new technologies or providing unique and exquisite goods and services, while others represent fountains of creativity or strongholds of heritage, still others have established themselves as leading research institutions.
We will be recruiting further Story Associates for the full programme in 2024.
